Join us for an evening of creative expression at THE OLD TORRANCE COFFEE AND TEA, located at 1413 Marcelina Ave. in Old Town Torrance. Sign-up will be at 6:00pm. Open Mic hours are 6:00pm-9:00pm on Thursday Nights.
If you just want to drop by and listen to the entertainment and/or get to know some of your neighbors over great coffee and fresh pastries, by all means - stop in.
Musicians/singers will be limited to 2 songs/per set. Spoken word artist and poets will be limited to 2 poems or 10 minutes/per set. If time permits, after everyone attending has been heard, we will extend extra time to performers, at the discretion of the host/hostess. The Open Mic is held outside (in front of the coffeehouse). For this reason, the Open Mic will be canceled in the event of rain.
Any performer who wishes to have their performance recorded may have someone with a small, hand-held camcorder assist them. We do NOT allow special lights or recording equipment, set-up/break-down time, etc.
Regarding Children Under the Age of 15
Please remember, the Open Mic is an ADULT venue. If you are
children to perform, they will have to wait their turn regardless of any homework or bedtime considerations.
If you are bringing children to watch, please supervise them. Make sure they are not running up to the playing area during a performance and distracting both audience and performers. If they are too young to sit quietly and enjoy the Open Mic, we ask that you reconsider bringing them.
Once again this is an ADULT venue and while the host will tell the comedians to "try to keep it clean", we do not censor. If you are sensitive to having them hear language that would be inappropriate for children, we ask that you reconsider bringing them
There is a one-drink minimum to attend the open mic.
NOTICE TO PERFORMERS
DUE TO EVEN MORE STRINGENT BMI/ASCAP REGULATIONS, WE ASK THAT YOU PERFORM ORIGINAL WORKS ONLY. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THEY ARE KNOWN TO HAVE THEIR REPRESENTATIVES SIT IN THE AUDIENCE AND RECORD YOUR PERFORMANCE.
